>Presenting yourself

Going to auditions / screenings / go sees / vtr for clients is a very important part of the job. This is how you get projects and how clients get to know who you are. Many models make the mistake of trying to look extra elegant, sophisticated or out of the ordinary just to get the attention of others but don’t have the fashion knowledge to pull it off. Most clients wants to see the natural you. It is also important to check with your agent what you are getting yourself into. If you are going to a go see for a jeans fashion show then make sure that you go there wearing your best pair of jeans that makes you look good. Also for guys it’s not bad to wear make up as long as you don’t over do it. Maybe put a little concealer and fix your hair would be ok. I also recommend wearing a simple pair of jeans and a plain t-shirt on majority of your auditions. If you have it you will still stand out. Also it is very important to have a good personality and a professional attitude. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Most clients are impressed by someone with the take-it-or-leave-it attitude than someone who begs attention to get a job.

Working the camera

The success of model also means that he/she has to look good on camera. Most of the successful models look very natural in pictures and videos because they practice it. Also a model should be confident in expressing his/her emotions in front of the camera and is ok with the fact that there is always a possibility of him/her exposing some flesh. Some models would even go the extra mile by researching and gathering up his/her own ideas before the shoot to add up to the story of the entire affair. Some even have developed their own character that they know they look good in. Some models look better when they are pissed, some look good on sexy pictorials, some just look good. Developing these looks and being able to apply it and act in front of the camera makes a model more marketable and also models who have developed their own character tends to find themselves crossing over the acting arena…
