Adele

Adele

Adele wanted to be the first to break the news to her fans about her bundle of joy.

The Grammy-winning singer announced on her website that she’s expecting her first child with her boyfriend Simon Konecki on Friday. The happy news comes after years of troubled romantic relationships, which Adele has famously pinned songs about. Tracks like Someone Like You and Rolling in the Deep from her successful album 21 was about her breakup from her last boyfriend.

“I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together,” Adele wrote in a blog post titled “I’ve Got Some News” on her website. “I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx”

Konecki, 36, is a former financier and co-founder of the U.K. bottled-water company Life Water. He heads Life Water’s charity, Drop4Drop, which brings clean water to developing countries. Adelle, 24, is still enjoying the success of her album sales. It’s sold 9.3 million copies in the U.S. alone, which makes it the biggest-selling record since Usher’s 2004 album Confessions.

Social Media Day 2012

Social Media Day 2012

Asia dominates the world’s biggest social networking markets according to research from blog 24/7 Wall Street who compiled a list of countries where Facebook penetration (usage per population) is highest.  The Philippines topped the list with  Facebook at 93.9%, Twitter at 16.1%, LinkedIn at 1.9%, and Internet Use at 29.7%.

Social network penetration is incredibly high in the Philippines, reaching 95%.  Facebook is the country’s most popular website, more so than Google, and has a penetration rate of 93.9%.  The Philippines is also the eighth most popular country for Twitter use on a global scale, with a penetration rate of 16.1%.  The popularity of photo sharing has increased by 46% in the country in one year, largely due to Facebook.  Social networking is so popular among Filipinos, the country has been nicknamed “The Social Networking Capital of the World.”

This year definitely is an exciting year for the Philippines in terms of Social Media in general.  Lately, I’ve been very busy attending industry events representing my company (Visual Ally) and every event is a blast.  Meeting new people and networking with possible partners and clients is something I really enjoy doing.  I’m excited for tomorrow’s event and hope to meet the people I interact with on a regular basis online but this time in the flesh.

So if you’re curios like me… join me!

The Artists

Dj / Producers – Remix & Mashup Favorite Duo – Myon & Shane 54, Electronic Dance Music legendary duo – Cosmic Gate, and Electronic Dance Music’s leading lady – Emma Hewitt. Too bad Bobina from Russia was already playing

I was fortunate enough to be able to get an exclusive invite to probably one of the hottest party this year in Manila.  Thanks to my good friend Jason Tomas.  The weather last Saturday night cooperated and the traffic wasn’t bad.  It usually takes me an hour and a half to get there by car; so I was surprised that it only took me 45 minutes to get to World Trade Centerfrom Valenzuela.  Definitely last Saturday was the best night to party.

I also had the opportunity to meet the artists Cosmic GateMyon & Shane 54, Bobina, and the ever beautiful “Lady of Trance” Emma Hewitt.  I even got a chance to have a picture taken with her.

The press conference went on very well.  There were a huge number of bloggers who attended the event eager to ask their questions… some personal but mostly about how they perceive the Philippines in terms of its maturity when it comes to Trance.

Being the Country Manager of Visual Ally, a Social Media Agency based here in the Philippines and the US, I had to ask how Social Media helped the artists promote their music.  Cosmic Gate said that they are very much into Social Media now because unlike before they would have to really spend so much time, effort, and energy, just to get noticed but now it’s easier for them to reach out to their fans and to share a sample of their music as well as themselves to their loyal followers.

Bigfish never fails to bring the best talent from all over the world.  No wonder people keep on flocking to their events.  Saw a number of familiar faces here and there as well as friends who I haven’t seen for a very long time.  The event was definitely packed with the hot people of the metro… definitely a feast for the eyes 🙂

Kudos to the Bigfish Team for bringing these wonderful talents and helping promote the Philippines as a première dance destination in Asia.  Special mention to Jason Tomas and Miss Samantha Encabo – PR Manager of Bigfish for being accommodating to everyone who came to the press conference.
